Vanity isn’t the only reason you want to look younger. Many women simply want their physical appearance to match the age of their vibrant minds. Even though a woman may be a mother, have a successful and prestigious career, or be involved in various community activities, she still wants to look as vibrant as she feels. Often when you get to a position that demands respect, people often see you as “older”. However, being seen as old in wisdom and old by wear are two completely different things!
The good news is women don’t have to get sucked into a vicious cycle of dangerous and expensive surgeries to retain a youthful glow. With these 5 tips it’s possible to dip your toes into the pool of eternal youth and look younger.
Tip #1 – Be sure to get enough quality sleep every night.
This is the time when your body has the best chance of recharging and repairing itself. With you in snooze mode, your body can make a concentrated effort to repair the cells that have been damaged throughout the day. With a good night’s sleep, you can look younger and wake more refreshed.
Tip #2 – Moisturize your body liberally.
The skin is the largest organ and is what everyone sees. When your skin is dry, flaky, or lacks hydration it can appear much older than it actually is. There are two skin tactics that will make you look younger. First, exfoliate before you enter the shower with a skin brush. By doing this step before you enter the steam of the shower it will boost the amount of moisture your skin can capture because you have sloughed off dead skin cells. The second tactic is to moisturize before going to sleep. With the concentrated cell repair happening as you rest the moisturizer will have the equivalent of an “x” factor to smooth skin.
Tip #3 – Drink plenty of water.
This is not news to most of us; however, very few actually follow the practice and then wonder why they don’t look younger. The best approach to great skin is one that covers your insides as well as your outsides. We have already discussed the importance of external moisturizing. Drinking ample amounts of water is the equivalent of internal moisturizing. Start you day with a full glass of water to give your body a boost after the night’s dehydration. Then, drink throughout the day as needed, preferably before you feel thirsty.
Tip #4 – Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
These foods are full of vital nutrients and antioxidants that help you to look younger and feel younger. Avoid grabbing pre-packaged or processed snacks throughout the day. Instead, grab an apple, orange, avocado, grapes, carrots, or another favorite. It may take a little while to get used to this if you don’t currently eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. However, it becomes easier and easier, especially when you prepare the snacks ahead of time. And here’s a bonus tip, the good fats help your body absorb more of the nutrients in those fruits and vegetables. Some vitamins are water soluble, others are fat soluble. Adding a little fat (like olive oil or avocado) will help you absorb more of the goodness from that salad!
Tip #5 – Monitor your sun exposure to look younger.
While it is important for your overall health to get a good dose of natural Vitamin D through sun exposure, it is also important to avoid too much sun. About 15 minutes a day will give you the vitamin dose you need. However, for all other times be sure you are wearing a sunscreen that’s appropriate for your skin type. The goal is to avoid getting a burn. Too much sun results in sun spots, drying, and premature aging of the skin. If you already have sun damage consider a non-surgical laser treatments. Then, of course, moisturize after every session in the sun.
By taking care of your skin from the inside out you will look younger and feel more vibrant. Turn on the “fountain of you” and allow how you look on the outside to be a reflection of how you feel on the inside.
